Academic Challenge

The NSSE describes academic challenge as how much students put effort into work that challenges students academically. This includes indicators that measure how students apply, analyze, synthesize, reflect, and integrate what they learn in their courses. It also measures students’ learning strategies and how much they engage in research. Programs and initiatives under this category primarily target students that need academic assistance in order to support students to develop better learning strategies and skills to engage in academic activities. Some of these programs also provide optimal opportunities for students to effectively engage in learning opportunities that will challenge them throughout their educational career.
